Elizabeth Anderson, AHS Needle Lead Editor
Journalism is as much about the community as it is about the news. Elizabeth Anderson is a lead editor of the newspaper division. She likes to “highlight people who don’t get light shone on them much.” She joined journalism her sophomore year and has been involved with the newspaper and yearbook divisions. Her favorite aspect of journalism, above all, is the “family aspect” and how everyone is supported. She also looks forward to the IHSPA and MediaNow conferences every year, where she gets a chance to meet new friends and have a good time. “I really love attending these camps because I get to meet new people and make the publication the best it has been.”
Anderson is involved in wrestling cheerleading, basketball cheerleading, football cheerleading, concert choir, show choir, NHS, Quill and Scroll, and Villa Dance Company, and works as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA as well as a teller at Rolling Hills Bank & Trust. For fun outside of school, she likes to watch Netflix, hang out with her cat Buddy, online shop, and practice singing and dancing.
The advice that’s helped Anderson the most through high school is to get involved and try new things. “Don’t be scared to do journalism… it’s so welcoming and nice,” Anderson said in regard to new journalists.
