Boys Swim Competes at Home

The swim team competed against the Lewis Central Titans at a home meet.

The Atlantic Boys Swim Team competed in a swim meet on Monday, Jan. 11, at the Nishna Valley Family YMCA that began at 5:30. The boys swam against the Lewis Central Titans and lost 98-40.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle, junior Bryan York secured first place with a time of 1:57.93, and junior Bryce Schmidtke received third with a time of 2:29.27. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, junior Brayden Atkinson came in second with a time of 57.04, and freshman Dawsen Sorensen in fourth at 1:08.33. According to swim coach Dean Junker, “Hopefully we can get some conditioning done and work on getting better.”

Although Junior Alex Sampson thought their times weren’t as fast, he said, “We’ll get back into it in the next three weeks before districts.”The next swim meet will be Thursday, Jan. 14, at 5:30 against Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln at Kirn Junior High School in Council Bluffs.
