Katie Birge

Katie Birge, Yearbook Lead Editor, Newspaper Editor

AHS Senior Katie Birge has been in Journalism for three years. She's been a part of Intro to Journalism, Yearbook, and Newspaper. Something that has been her favorite is designing things. Another part is photography, ¨I’m not very good with the cameras though, but I do like taking pictures¨ Birge said.

Birge does a number of things in the school such as musical, play, choir, and student council. She's been on the student council since sixth grade. “It's been a long time,” she said. Even though she doesn't do many sports, she was involved in Tennis this past season. Some things Birge does outside of school and school activities include reading specifically Webtoons and watching YouTube. She also has a job at Hy-Vee as an online shopper. She does checking, occasionally courtesy, facing, and stocking. “Just whatever they tell me to do,” she said.

Homecoming is something that Birge was quite excited about this year because she’s on the student council. The student council starts planning homecoming in the summer with a summer meeting. So for STUCO, it’s a big thing. She works on helping figure out the dress days and the dance. “It’s really great to see it all come together and to have fun with it.”
