Returning four out of six starters for girls and boys, coach Mike McDermott has a positive outlook for the upcoming tennis season. There are 45 people out for tennis this season, and they will compete in 12 matches. The hardest competition for boys will be Denison, who returns everyone. For the girls, Red Oak has a solid team and holds the hardest competition. McDermott has high hopes for all the seniors plus junior Keira Olsen, all with varsity experience from last year. Senior Ethan Strum said, “I am very excited for the conference and district tournament”

“I am looking forward to great competition in the upcoming season,” said senior Malena Woodward. Assistant coach Cole Renken is looking forward to seeing the competition this year. For the boys, Renken is hoping that they can compete to be top three in the conference or even win the conference. For the girls, he is looking forward to building off of last year’s season.  He is hoping that some of the younger players step up and can compete in the varsity line-up. “I’m also excited to try to develop some of our younger players to fill in at the bottom of the varsity line up and most of the JV will be fairly new compared to last year,” Renken said.
