Long-time school board member Laura McLean resigned from her position on Wednesday evening when the ACSD School Board convened for their regular biweekly meeting. After regular business, a presentation was given by the ACSD homeschool program directors. A different report given by Superintendent Beth Johnson highlighted her three goals of improvement in “Academic, attendance, and leadership” fields. Josh McLaren gave thanks to the Booster Club volunteers. The members and role of Atlantic’s SIAC (School Improvement Advisory Committee) program were discussed. The Board voiced their concerns over the lack of direction from state officials on AI policy.
McLean made departing comments to the board, saying “There’s a lot of exciting stuff coming up and I really am sad to leave here.” The board discussed the process of finding a replacement for her, which they hope to have done by Jan. 28.
