The contract of Jesse McCann, AHS Student Support Coordinator, was terminated at the Feb. 11 ACSD School Board meeting. His termination was first on the Board’s action items. There was one public commentor, a Students for Justice organizer, and freshman Liam Spencer. He called for stricter hiring procedures at AHS. Spencer said, “We don’t want this happening to us again or at another school.” The board unanimously voted to fire McCann, which was recommended by Superintendent Beth Johnsen. Fifty people, including board members, attended. The petition for a special election filed by Stef Gross was verified, and the special election date was set for March 31. In other business, the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) club was approved. Information can be found here. The hearings for the 2026-2027 school year budget and calendar were set for March 25.
