The ACSD administration released a notice to teachers and parents regarding the firing of Jesse McCann. The release came out Thursday morning and reads as follows:
“Atlantic Community School District Board of Education Takes Personnel Action
At its regularly scheduled meeting on February 11, 2026, the Atlantic Community School District Board of Education approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to terminate Jesse McCann’s employment contract.
This action followed a formal notice recommending termination to the Board. The matter remains under active investigation by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) and the Atlantic Police Department.
Because this is an ongoing investigation and a personnel matter, the District is limited in the information it can share at this time. Under Iowa law, certain personnel records are confidential and not subject to public disclosure. Additionally, Iowa law governing teacher contract matters requires that personnel proceedings be handled in accordance with statutory due process requirements. The District will continue to cooperate fully with the BOEE and local law enforcement authorities.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. The District is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and to following all applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Additional information will be shared as appropriate and when permitted by law.”
