Farm Safety is important to ensure the safety of everyone around farm animals and machinery. Roughly 33 children are injured in farm-related accidents daily, according to the CDC. Each year, the Atlantic FFA hosts a Farm Safety Day to help ensure the safety of children around agricultural items. 20 FFA students visited Washington Elementary School on May 8 to help educate younger children about farm safety. This year, the FFA has ten stations, including chickens, a cow, a goat, a horse, llamas, pigs, a sheep, tractor/PTO, ATV/UTV facts and safety and beef byproduct bingo. FFA students get to educate the younger students about their chosen station for ten minutes, then students rotate. The elementary students always enjoy this day because they get to see the animals and have fun with high school students, this day sheds light on the FFA and helps keep kids safe around agriculture.
