The Atlantic FFA Chapter hosts an annual “drive your tractor to school day” in honor of FFA Week. This event was supposed to be on Friday, February 27th, but got postponed due to the weather. It was postponed to this Friday, March 20th. For this event, FFA members can sign up to drive their tractors to school, where they are all parked along the row in front of the tennis courts. It is a very good event for community involvement because the students drive their tractors in front of many places, such as the Allan House, the heritage house, and more. This is the second year of this tradition of driving for the community to see. Addalyn Sonntag says it is “fun and involves the whole community. It also increases chapter recruitment so kids can be involved in activities like FFA tractor day.”

Jacquelyn Freund, AHS Needle Junior Editor
Jacquelyn Freund is the business manager for AHS Needle as well as a writer. “I really like going to all the businesses and organizing,” she says, which has suited her well as she intends to pursue a career in accounting. But of course, she’s not all business. “I always loved writing stories, and I really wanted to continue that.”
Freund also has aspirations beyond journalism. She hopes to one day go to the University of Nebraska Omaha to be an accountant, and said, “I will have to be good at networking with a lot of people and talking to clients, and this will help me talk to clients.” In her free time, she likes to sew, and she recently finished a large quilt in the style of those used by escaping slaves on the Underground Railroad. She is employed at Milk Unlimited, where she is an assistant to the manager. She also cleans her family’s office and works at a local grocery store in the spring, along with babysitting. She was recently inducted into NHS and participates in 4-H, FFA, and archery.
