Jesse McCann, former AHS Student Support Coordinator, has voluntarily surrendered his educator’s license. McCann held three licenses, according to the Board of Education Examiners. The licenses were an Evaluator qualification, a Master Educator license, and a coaching authorization. An Iowa BOEE document states that McCann voluntarily surrendered his license after waiving his right to a hearing over the matter. Reasons for the license removal cited on the BOEE website include the probable cause for “Dependent adult abuse on an adult student… Sexual or otherwise indecent act with a student or any minor… Sexual or physical relationship with a student… Grooming behavior towards a student… Other inappropriate relationship with a student.” No charges at this time have been brought against McCann. There is no possibility of the licenses being renewed, according to Western Iowa Today.
McCann’s contract was terminated by the Atlantic Community School District. A Freedom of Information Act response from Superintendent Beth Johnsen cited ACSD policies that they had reason to believe McCann had violated.
