The Commons bathroom closed again on Feb. 19. According high school custodian Rich Smith, the bathrooms were closed due to pipes not being cleaned out for a long period of time, along with inappropriate objects being put in the toilets. “Whatever you have heard that has been flushed down the toilets, it’s probably true,” Smith said. The girls’ bathroom closed on Tuesday, Feb. 17, because of plumbing issues. The boys’ bathroom then had to be closed because of flooding. The following day, the bathrooms reopened, but were shut down again because of inappropriate objects again being flushed down the toilet. The bathrooms opened once more, just to get shut down again for the same recurring problem on Thursday, Feb. 19.

According to Smith, there is a “possibility” that the school will close to repair the pipes if the issue continues. The pipes in question run underneath the 500 hallway, and the floor will have to excavated to reach them.
