Recruiters from the Marine Corps and the Iowa National Guard came to visit students during lunch on Feb. 16. They had different activities related to military training for students to try. One activity was pull-ups and another was holding a 20lb hammer. ACSD’s school resource officer Ben Sandy even tried the Marines’ ”pull up challenge” and completed four pull ups. Both booths were a hit for A lunch. Multiple students tried each challenge and received a prize for trying. Sgt. Krey from the Marines said, “The best way to get better at pull ups is by doing them.” Ssg. Meir from the Iowa National Guard continued to encourage students not only to try the challenge but challenge themselves. Recruiters are at AHS to inspire more students to join the program and to give them more information on what they need to do and how they can join. Different recruiters come a few times a year to visit the school during both A and B lunch to ensure everyone gets a chance to stop by.
