Journalism students are invited to Media Now at Drake University from July 7-12. They will stay in the dorms on campus. At the camp, students will have the opportunity to enrich skills such as writing, photography, broadcasting, and more while still participating in fun activities. Sophomore Shining Meither went to Media Now last summer. When asked about it, she said, “I love Media Now.” Junior Lily Wilrich also went and is intending on going again this coming summer. Her favorite part of the camp was Chalk Night, which was an activity where teams of students threw chalk dust at each other. Wilrich said it was “like a war zone.”

Gabrielle Engler, Staff Writer
Gabrielle Engler is a sophomore and second semester journalism student at AHS. Engler’s strong suit is writing. “It’s just fun to do. I like being able to write about things that I also want to learn more about. I get to learn a lot more than I thought I would.” She plans to be active in journalism for the rest of her high school career. “I’m passionate about that kind of stuff.”
Outside of journalism, Engler enjoys running, archery, and softball. She plays instruments such as the bass clarinet, harmonica, and guitar.
