PE students of Atlantic High School ran the Pacer Test on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the gym. The Pacer Test is an interval running health program that tests students on their fitness. To be considered healthy, freshman girls need to make a score of 30, sophomores 32, juniors 35, and seniors 38. For boys, freshmen need a 42, sophomores 47, juniors 50, and seniors 54. Afterwards, students chose to participate in a game of Knockout. This game consists of two basketballs and two or more players. Key participants include Zayden Parker, who finished first, and crowd favorite Jayna McEntaffer, who came in second. “A fun game after a required activity helps us be more social and even makes a stressful activity more exciting,” said student Chloe Updike.

About the Contributors
Sophia Rose, Staff Writer
Sophomore Sophia Rose is a JP student with AHS journalism. Her passion lies in photography, especially capturing emotional moments, which is shown in her photo project documenting AHS’s boys wrestling team. She is inspired by her sisters Emma and Bryer Rose who also participated in journalism. Sophia is eager to do more photography and “capture raw emotions” and significant moments at AHS.
Beyond journalism, Rose actively participates in tennis, softball, and serves as a track manager. She enjoys reading, organizing, and cherishing quality time with her family. Rose values her family and friends, recognizing their constant support, and holds her faith close to her, finding comfort and security within it.
Keaton Schroeder, Staff Writer
Sophomore Keaton Schroeder says the part of journalism that has him most intrigued is the news stories that he gets to hear. This helps him stay updated with the world and our community. Schroeder is engaged in baseball, golf, and wrestling. He participates in StuCo, FFA, and FBLA. When it’s his free time, he likes to read and enjoys doing sports outside of school. Schroeder loves to clear his mind with exercise and push himself to be better in everyday life. This helps him manage school because it gives him a chance to rest. He values sports and social contact with others. This keeps him busy and sets him forward. What drives him back to Atlantic and the high school is the friends and social contact that he has with others. He enjoys talking with others and being a part of their lives, as they are his.
Aydrie Coffman, Yearbook Editor
Aydrie Coffman (17) is a senior yearbook editor this year. She originally got into journalism because many of her friends also participated. Coffman says the best part of journalism is the freedom that comes with it. She says you just get to “go with the flow.” Her favorite thing to do is make templates for the yearbook. Coffman’s favorite memory so far is painting tiles just because they didn’t do much that whole week, and it was a good time to talk with peers and be creative with them. She is so glad she joined journalism in her sophomore year because it has brought so many good times with friends, and many memories she will never forget.
Throughout her 4 years at Atlantic High School, Coffman has participated in soccer, AHS Fuel, Journalism, soccer, and NHS. She also enjoys reading, shopping, and hanging out with friends. She is the oldest of her 4 other sisters. Coffman lives on a farm, and they have “a lot” of animals. She is excited to see what her future brings and is ready to finish out the rest of her senior year.
