In 1953, former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt convinced Congress that the United States should have a day to honor educators. That has now evolved into a week that we call Teacher Appreciation Week. Here at AHS, we celebrated with gifts and snacks for the teachers. The Student Council gave the teachers Scooters gift cards and cookies. Walmart donated different sweets to the teachers’ lounge. Science teacher Hannah Misner said, “I like the random notes like hearts.” The school Superintendent Beth Johnsen sent an email to the teachers to show her gratitude. While all these gifts are great, math teacher Sheila Hayden likes it when her students “personally tell her to have a nice day or ask how it is going.” Overall, AHS Journalism wants to give a huge thanks to our teachers.
