The Girls Trojan soccer team recently had its senior night soccer game on Friday, April 24, against Logan-Magnolia. Of the 20 varsity players, eight are seniors graduating, so this will be their final season. Players showed a lot of emotion on senior night, as many tears were shed; from both the seniors graduating and the younger players losing their mentors. The eight seniors who were celebrated on this night were Aydrie Coffman, Calinda Thompson, Ella Brummer, Presleigh Reese, Lucy Cohrs, Aliyah Williams, Liliana Johnson, and Chloe Lillard, as well as manager Anna Meyer. All the seniors then proceeded to start the game; these players influenced the team in so many ways, leading and helping the younger players, teaching and growing the team. Each senior played a different role this year, some being mentors and cheering from the sidelines, and some being on the field helping players. It was a great group of seniors, but next year they are losing almost half of their players, so the underclassmen have some big shoes to fill and roles to step up to. Congratulations to all soccer seniors as they finish out their careers with more games to go!

Scott Simonton, Staff Writer
Scott Simonton joined the journalism program during his sophomore year after being inspired by Mrs. Berryhill. What began as an interest quickly developed into a passion, as Simonton discovered that journalism is both a creative and rewarding field. He comes from a family of five, including his parents, Josh and Christina, his older brother, Jake, and his younger sister, Jennifer. While Simonton is not involved in other school activities, he focuses his time and energy on journalism.
Simonton’s favorite aspect of the program is photography, especially photo projects that allow him to choose his own subjects and express his creativity. Looking ahead, Simonton is excited to be part of the Javlin yearbook staff and see the final product come together. Overall, Simonton’s creativity and dedication make him a strong asset to the journalism program.
