Austin Mills has participated in football, soccer and wrestling at AHS. Mills has a lot of good memories going out for these sports. He also went out for 8th grade track back in middle school.  While in track, he did the shot put, discus, and short distance runs like the 100 meter dash.  Mills, however, wasn’t too interested in track after that year.

Mills has been in weights all four years of high school, which has helped him to get stronger for what he’s planning to do after high school: the Marines.  After he’s done with the United States Marines Corps, Mills plans to go to college for engineering.  He doesn’t know what college to attend yet, but he said that the Marines will pay for 100% of his education expenses.

Mills’ favorite school memory was accidentally  breaking fellow senior Garrett Grooms’ wrist during 8th grade track. Grooms told him to launch him off of a piece of track equipment, and as a result, Coach Duff had to rush him to the hospital to get his wrist fixed, because it was bent completely downward.  Grooms was only able to watch the rest of the track meet.  When confronted by a group of girls as to why he did it, Mills just replied saying, “He told me to.”

Mills said after high school, he would want to be remembered as someone who tried to stay active, and that’s just what he did.  He had great memories while trying his very best in football, wrestling, soccer and track.  Mills can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in the future.
