Trista Flathers, Yearbook Editor

Senior Trista Flathers is a yearbook editor for the Javeline. She chose to do yearbook because the work is “kind of your own choice. Like you can create something on your own, but the whole school gets to see it too. I think it’s kind of cool.”

Flathers joined journalism because of her friends, but ended up enjoying the atmosphere and work that came with the course. She recommends that students who take journalism be ready to put in the work to make the program run smoothly. Flathers said that Journalism changed her as a person, allowing her to  “communicate better with people and definitely expanded my writing skills.” She is thankful for her improvement in writing ability and now being able to come up with a story and execute it well.

Her favorite thing about Journalism is being able to have space and said, “it really prepares you for college because in college they just kinda let you go and do stuff on your own.”

In Flathers’ free time she works and enjoys getting to “hang out with friends and my cat.” Her grandpa is a big inspiration for Flathers. “I am inspired to be like him because his personality is so amazing and he’s just like a good person in my eyes.”
