Carina Birkel is a sophomore at Atlantic High School. She is involved with activities such as band--where she is co-section leader of the clarinets, dance, journalism, and IHSSA Speech.
In her free time, she is “writing, taking pictures for friends, or reading.” Her favorite book is the first in the “Child of Apollo” series. Birkel joined journalism because she’s always loved writing and wanted to see if this would be a type of writing that she would enjoy. Her favorite part of journalism is the photography aspect. “I really enjoyed taking pictures, learning new techniques, and seeing my skills progress,” she said.
