Trojan football season is officially in full swing. Last week the Trojans took on the Clarke Indians, which resulted in a blow-out win for the home team. The Trojans boasted 365 rushing yards, led by senior Tyson O’Brien with 105 yards himself and an additional touchdown. “All of the gaps were open, and we were able to do some really good things with the ball,” said O’Brien Senior Tristan Hayes was starting quarterback, and gained 101 passing yards, and three touchdowns. “Honestly, Clarke had a really young team both offensively, and defensively, so we capitalized on it,” recalled Hayes. As for the defensive side, Senior Evan Sorensen led the Trojan’s tackle statistics with 3.5. Going into this game, the Trojans didn’t know what to expect– Clarke has a new head coach, and lost most of their starting line up at the 2024 graduation. Nevertheless, the Trojan team ended victorious, the final score was 62-7.
Now, the team prepares for their first conference match up– the Glenwood Rams. Trojan Coach Joe Brummer gives credit for the offensive line, saying they are “executing” however, Friday’s game will be tough. The Rams have a “big and physical” team, said Brummer, and the Trojans will be tested. Kickoff at 7:00 pm, at GCSD Activity complex.
