The Trojans won a home game against the Des Moines Christian Lions Friday, Oct. 24 with a score of 21-0. This is the first time in 18 years the Trojans qualified for state. They will take on the West Marshall Trojans Friday, Oct. 30.

Senior Zane Vance had two individual tackles, along with six assisted tackles. Vance has a total of nine individual tackles this season. “I felt like we played pretty hard and made good plays,” Vance said. “That’s what has gotten us this far into the season.”

Our goal is to not only make it to the dome and win the championship, but to do it for Steele.

“Our goal is to not only make it to the dome and win the championship, but to do it for Steele,” Vance said. The Trojans will accomplish this goal by putting their best efforts into their practices every day and “going out and delivering it for our teammates.” Vance’s favorite memory so far this season is “getting to hold that banner on the field with my team.”

Senior Joe Weaver had two solo tackles and two assisted tackles, as well as one interception. Weaver believes the team played well on Friday night and had “big plays, but limited them to very few.”

“Our biggest goal right now is to keep winning for Steele, but also go out with a boom for our senior year,” Weaver said. He wants the team to not only work hard in practice, but also stay healthy. Weaver’s favorite memory this year is playing the first home game on the new field. AHS will travel to West Marshal for Friday’s game.
