About the Contributors
Ella Meyer
Ella Meyer, Staff Writer, Lead Podcast Editor
Ella Meyer is an AHS junior and in her second year of journalism. Meyer is the lead podcast editor for AHS journalism. Her favorite part is First Fridays.Meyer said, “It is when all of the leads get together and we talk about stuff and we just usually end up having some sort of fun and like laughing and just having a pretty good time.” Meyer is specialized in the podcast department of journalism. Her favorite memory in Journalism is over the summer of 2023 a group went to Media Now, which is a journalism camp. “I had so much fun, you do crazy games and I got really close with some of my fellow journalism people because we had to spend a week together in a dorm room in all these dorms and I'd say that’s probably my favorite. It got crazy and we had so much fun.” Meyer likes how journalism is different by how everyone works together, shares ideas as well as supporting each other on the ideas, and giving each other the best feedback possible so you can succeed. Currently Meyer is not involved in anything but journalism but Meyer picked up scrapbooking and is looking forward to it. She also enjoys reading in her free time.  Meyer is most proud of her Read Across America Yearbook page that she made last year. She got a lot of compliments on and Ms. Berryhill entered it into a contest and they are still waiting for the results. Meyer hopes to go into an education major to teach journalism down the road.  Story by Jersey Green
Kate Nichols
Kate Nichols, Lead Podcast Editor
Kate Nichols, a junior at AHS, is one of the lead editors of the AHS Needle Podcast, The Point. Nichols has been involved in journalism for two years and joined because it “seemed interesting” and she loved having Ms.Berryhill as a teacher in freshman English. Last year in journalism Nichols wrote a few stories including: “Seniors’ Advice to Underclassmen,” “Under the Influence,” and “The Pink Tax.” Nichols said her favorite part of journalism last year was making an ad for the local business, Your Forte. She encourages others to join journalism because you are able to “go at your own pace” and you don’t get a lot of direction so you are able to be creative in your own way. This year in journalism she looks forward to “reviving” The Point podcast since many people haven’t heard about it. Outside of journalism, Nichols loves to paint, bake, and cook. She occupies a lot of her spare time reading, as that is one of her favorite activities. When she grows up she hopes to go to college to become a forensic anthropologist. For her junior year she is looking forward to getting through another positive school year. Story by Addison Freund
Allison Berryhill
Allison Berryhill, the advisor of the journalism program and an English teacher here at AHS has been teaching for 26 years and has been advising the journalism program for 14 years. Berryhill said, “ My favorite memory is when the room is buzzing with students working in teams and the energy is addicting.” Berryhill finds different aspects of each department in journalism fun. “The yearbook is always amazing, and our podcastors and social media team came back with great ideas from Media Now.” One thing Berryhill likes about journalism is that you need a wide range of students with different interests. “Some students shine through with social media, yearbook or taking photos,” said Berryhill.  Outside of teaching Berryhill plays the accordion, runs, juggles and loves to learn new things. She also enjoys reading and writing poetry. “Right now, I am learning Spanish on Duolingo,” Berryhill said. Berryhill would also like to shout out that the AHS journalism website has won the SNO award three years in a row. Story by Annabelle Meyer
