The Trojan cross country team competed in the Hawkeye 10 Thursday, Oct. 17. Creston hosted the meet. Harlan took the first place spot on the girls’ side, while Lewis Central was the top dog in the boys’ competition, though they tied with Harlan.

The boys finished in third place with two runners earning a top ten spot. Junior Craig Alan Becker had an individual placing of third, and senior Evan Brummer came in seventh. The boys had a total score of 87, just four points behind Lewis Central and Harlan, who tied.

The girls earned fourth place with one runner earning a top ten spot. Freshman Ava Rush finished in ninth individually. The girls had a total score of 111, which was 21 points behind third place Creston. The varsity team had two runners injured, so freshman Laney Brosam and senior Kelsie Siedlik filled in the bottom two varsity slots.

This was the final meet for the JV teams, but the varsity squad still has districts which will be hosted in Atlantic. The state qualifying meet is on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Nishna Hills Golf Course.
