Avery Nicholas

Avery Nicholas, JP Staff

Sophomore Avery Nicholas has taken on high school and journalism with a driven mind.  “I enjoy being able to talk and interact with others and use it for other purposes in journalism,” she said. Nicholas especially enjoys taking photos of school activities.

She’s also participating in volleyball, basketball, track and field, and softball. Unfortunately, an accident on July 12, 2020, caused her to tear her ACL in her right knee. This took her out of the next three sports seasons of her freshman year. After surgery and many months of physical therapy, Nicholas was able to run in her first track meet on May 3, 2021. On September 9, 2021, Nicholas then tore her ACL in her left knee. This was heartbreaking for her as she was just getting back to playing sports again. Nicholas has worked hard in physical therapy and said, “I’m looking forward to being able to play sports eventually because the last time I really played was in eighth grade.”

Nicholas’s favorite part of high school was homecoming week. “There’s always fun activities and everyone brings out school spirit and everyone comes together. You really feel like you’re one school.” She loves to hang out with friends and make memories. Nicholas also enjoys traveling.
