Chaylei Carey, Broadcast Anchor
Junior Chaylei Carey is a fine arts broadcaster for Eye of the Needle. Carey helps take pictures, videos, and extra clips of many AHS activities to use for the weekly news shows. Carey said, “I joined journalism because I heard the class was super fun from my classmates and I have always enjoyed writing and taking pictures.” She said that the award winning story “The Grind of a 4.0” would be her favorite.
On the weekends, Carey would choose to spend her time with her boyfriend, Drew Engler. She also really enjoys playing the ukulele. Carey said she is not much of an extrovert, but enjoys hanging out with her friends. She also enjoys going downtown in Atlantic to the restaurant Plaza Azteca, attending Atlantic Fest, and other events that occur downtown. Carey said, “My dad is most definitely my role model just because he is so hard working and I get a lot of qualities from him.”
Carey said, “I have enjoyed my junior year so far, but I am not looking forward for homework to starting picking up.” She participates in cheerleading, student council, and AHS fuel. Carey’s favorite high school memory was “anytime she was laughing her butt off with her friends.” She also said that “Simpson’s class was really fun.”
