Chaylei Carey, Broadcasting
Chaylei Carey is the lead producer in the Eye of the Needle weekly show team.“I’m basically their boss,” Carey said. “I help come up with video ideas.” The team works together to try and come up with good videos that will be funny and inform viewers. Carey said that she also helps film the videos, edit them together, and is featured in the videos too. In the spring of 2021, she was named Videographer of the Year by the Iowa High School Press Association.
Carey’s favorite part of journalism is “socializing with the school body.” She is in the musical this year, NHS helps other parts of journalism and choir. In the past, Carey has participated in Student Council, AHS Fuel, track, and cheerleading.
“I joined broadcasting because whenever I was in Berryhill’s honors English class they would have food.” Once Carey joined she learned she really liked it. Carey has tried many aspects of journalism but enjoys broadcasting the most and is a large contributor to the team.
