Senior Braxton Hass originally held the record for the Pacer test at AHS with a score of 120. On Jan. 14, in third period, senior Hunter Quist beat this score by two, raising the new record to 122. Hass was in Quist’s class and was determined to hold the record again. He took the Pacer test on the same day in sixth period, scoring 134. He credits his fitness level to wrestling practices and the wrestling team’s morning mile runs. “It takes a lot of mental and physical strength, you have to be fit, you have to be ready to run,” said Hass.
The highest recorded score that can be earned on the Pacer test is 247, which amounts to 3.7 miles. There are 21 levels of running, and Hass made it to the 14th level. The record for girls at AHS is 94, held by Katrina Williams.
