Although there are many precautions taken to stop the spread of COVID-19 during this time, there is still the chance of spreading a different illness. The 2020-21 flu season has just started to roll around and many are getting vaccinated. The CDC recommends getting a vaccination in September or October, but urges those who haven’t been vaccinated to still get their flu shot.

The CDC currently estimates that nearly 179.6 million doses of the Influenza vaccination have already been distributed. They recommend that if you are feeling unwell to stay home, especially because the symptoms of Influenza and COVID-19 are very similar. The Cass County Health System is offering free flu shots to uninsured adults or people with limited access to the vaccine, but appointments are required. To make an appointment call Cass County Health Systems at 712-250-8008.
