The 2018 Trojan football team started off the season with a bang as they defeated Saydel 45-6 on Friday night. One of the stars of the game was senior quarterback Chase Mullenix, who finished with 49 passing yards, 81 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 12 carries for the Trojans. Fellow senior Zade Niklasen also ran for a 57-yard touchdown, and senior Connor Pellett and junior Tyler Moen both scored as well. Sophomore Bodie Johnson was also able to rush for his first varsity touchdown and said, “It felt good, my line blocked very well for me and the opened up a hole for me and I just ran through it.”

The Trojans had 366 yards of total offense, while Saydel had 158. Defensive highlights from the game included Cale Roller’s fumble recovery and Moen’s pick six. While Saydel had four turnovers, the Trojans had none. The forced turnovers by the Trojans helped them get better field position, which ultimately led to more points scored. The boys look to build on their win against Saydel as they take on the Creston Panthers this Friday at the Trojan Bowl.
