McKenna Nelson

McKenna Nelson, Yearbook

Funny, outgoing, and passionate, Mckenna Nelson is one of AHS’s few junior yearbook editors.  She first got involved in journalism in her sophomore year. When questioned about which of her projects she created for AHSNeedle she was most proud of, she said, “producing the video of The Most Popular Restaurants in Town was pretty fun. Nelson announced that her favorite aspect of journalism was “definitely” the photography part.

During Nelson’s interview, she said that journalism broadcasting influenced her decision to join journalism. “Whenever I saw the AHS videos, I thought it was so cool,” she said. Whenever Nelson watched any Eye of the Needle videos, she would think, “Oh, I wanna do that.” Nelson said that one of the coolest things about being a part of journalism is having a student-led program “where everyone is inclusive of each other.”

Throughout Mckenna Nelson’s three years in Atlantic High School, she took part in a few extracurriculars such as volleyball and managing both boy’s basketball and track. Nelson is currently in AHS Fuel and said that it’s her first year of partaking. One of her few hobbies she likes to do is hang out with her friends.
