McKenna Nelson, Staff Writer
McKenna Nelson is the daughter of Elvis and Alisha Hass. She has 3 siblings, Josh Hass, Braxton Hass, and Braeleigh Hass. Nelson is a sophomore and in her time here at AHS she’s been involved in volleyball, boys basketball managing, and track managing. When she’s not busy with sports, she enjoys playing volleyball, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and going shopping.
This is Nelson’s first year in the journalism department and she is a staff writer. When asked why she was interested in journalism, she said, “I wanted to be more involved in the school and fill up my schedule and this class was something that could do both.” Nelson thinks that many would describe her as a friendly and go-with-the-flow person. She hopes to continue being a successful writer and contribute to the journalism program.
Something you may not know about Nelson is she tore her meniscus her freshman volleyball season, which cost her both her sophomore volleyball season and now both of her track seasons. Though it was tough not being able to play, she was glad it happened early on in her high school career. “Without me tearing my meniscus, I would have never known I had an interest in medicine and particularly physical therapy,” she said. She hopes to study pediatric physical therapy at the University of Iowa in the near future and pursue a life in a different area.
