Aspen Niklasen
Journalism is the highlight of sophomore Aspen Niklasen’s day at Atlantic High School. What she enjoys most is writing stories. Niklasen is most proud of the story she wrote about climate change in Atlantic.

Outside of the school day, Niklasen spends most of her time playing volleyball, basketball, or running track. When Niklasen isn’t playing sports, she can be found walking her two pet lizards, Milo and Otis. Niklasen also enjoys being involved in FFA and spending time with her dogs, Nash, Gunther, and Harper. Reading books is something Niklasen does in her free time as well. Her favorite series is the “Mortal Instrument” series.

Niklasen’s family plays a big role in her life. Her mother, Jill Niklasen, is someone she admires. “My mom is always supportive of me and is really good at cleaning the house, which I am not good at,” she said.

Niklasen works as a waitress, dishwasher, and a food preparer at Emma Jean’s Restaurant and Lounge in Walnut, Iowa.

One goal Niklasen has for her future is to be more successful than her parents, and to go to a four-year college.
