Alex, Junior, and J.R. are just a few names that sophomore, Alexis Jimenez Russell goes by. Jimenez Russell has been interested to be part of the journalism team and helping compose the yearbook for a while now. She has both charm and energy that could brighten any dull room. Her full name is Alexis Isabel Jimenez Russell, and she was named after her aunt on her father’s side. “I have two last names because, in the Hispanic culture, you have your mother’s and your father’s last name,” said Jimenez Russel.
Jimenez Russell is also an active student who has participated in both volleyball and track and field since middle school. She has also taken up choir and show choir at the beginning of her freshman year. One thing Jimenez Russell liked about herself is how open she is to trying new things and how vocal she is about her opinions.
She said that out of all the projects she had done in journalism class, she is most proud of the photos she took of the choir. During that time, she traveled with them to Allen Place, a retirement community. “It was nice to see all the residents smile and sing along. It was fun to capture those moments and through them with people.”
