Hey Freshman! We want to introduce someone important to you! Do you know your high school nurse? Kristi Simpson has been the nurse at AHS since the fall of 2007. Upperclassmen know the services provided in her office, but ninth-graders might want to stop by and talk to her.
Her office is located in the 200 hallway, next to the Guidance Office.
Simpson wants students to know her office is a place where they go if they don’t feel well and if they have any questions. She also has female products for an emergency.
Junior Victoria Gibson says, “Mrs. Simpson is a very resourceful nurse and helps in many different ways.”
Principal Heather McKay said Simpson maintains an open door policy. “She doesn’t let kids abuse her trust, and students don’t take advantage of her trust.” McKay said she is really glad Simpson is our nurse. “I know I can go to her with questions and get additional support from her for students.”
Science teacher Steve Baier said, “We have a lot of kids that have medical issues that have to take medicine at a certain time and it’s helpful that we have an adult to help supervise that. If someone comes to school not feeling good, she can help them.”
Simpson has a variety of items that students might need throughout the day. Simpson has nail clippers, tweezers, ice-packs, cough drops and if students have the munchies, Simpson has crackers.
Junior Emily Mitchell said, “I go to Mrs. Simpson when I am having trouble with my contacts and they get dry. She offers me contact solution.”
Freshmen who have not met Nurse Simpson should stop by and introduce themselves. She might give you a cracker.
