Mr. Shuman resigns

Shuman is an avid guitar fan

has resigned from his teaching position at Atlantic High School as of October 12, 2012. His resignation was accepted Tuesday night by the school board.

Shuman said, “It was the right thing to do. My decision.” Shuman said he thought about the decision for the past two years.  “As exits go, it’s pretty slow motion. I am not gravely ill or going crazy.”

Shuman does not have any plans on what to do next. He will finish directing the fall play and has offered to assist students in forensics.

Principal Heather McKay said, “His decision is based on personal reasons. I am very thankful for the dedication Mr. Shuman has shown for his students, his colleagues, our school, and me. I wish him the best of luck as he takes on new adventures.”

Senior Bryce Wernimont said he is taking debate this semester. It is the first time he has had Mr. Shuman as a teacher. He was surprised to learn Shuman had resigned. “So far he’s a good teacher,” said Wernimont.

Senior Miranda Yarrington is in Shuman’s seminar class. She said he is a very good teacher and has has helped her a lot.
