AHS Football cheer will be holding tryouts on April 17 from 4:30 to 6 pm in the AHS gym for the upcoming season. The week leading up to tryouts, there will be practices in the morning and in the afternoon. If you are interested in participating, please join the Google Classroom or contact Coach Katie Hedegaard-Moreno with questions. To make the team, you are required to complete a cheer advocacy form with three adults and attend the parent meeting. During tryouts, you will need to do a straddle jump, six kicks, Loyalty, the designated cheer, and a designated dance. Your attire matters as well; you will need to have all hair pulled back, absolutely no jewellery, and you will also need to wear a Trojan shirt with black shorts. Coach Hedegaard-Moreno said, “If you are someone who can get up early for 6:30 am practice, want to be involved and make new friends, please join AHS cheerleading!” Through the AHS cheerleading program, students learn leadership skills, teamwork, and a sense of community. She said, “Football season is when school spirit is at its highest, and cheerleaders play a key role in bringing that energy to the field and to the stands.”
