“I like seeing people smile and hearing their emotions,” says Riley Hansen, a Senior Magazine editor and junior with a passion. She has been involved with journalism for three years. Hansen said she is versatile, “I write, I ask questions, I just do a lot for senior magazine, it just depends on what needs to be done.” She is also involved with the yearbook, where she helps create formats.
Along with journalism, she enjoys cooking, cleaning, and writing stories. After high school, she intends to either go into cosmetology or professional cleaning for the underprivileged, with another plan of hers being to become a CNA. She has begun to prepare herself for these possible careers by volunteering at the Heritage House and similar institutions. Hansen believes that it is important to write stories and do interviews because then she can show a story that may not be shown otherwise. “I like to include everyone’s stories because they matter,” she said.
