On February 11, AHS Needle published an article detailing the implementation of Policy 503.09: Student use of Personal Electronic Devices titled “Proposed Phone Policy.” The information in the article was derived from an in-person interview with School Board President Laura McLean. President McLean mistakenly provided false information.
We have received the following corrected information from McLean:
“I was … mistaken about us doing three readings for policies; we only do two.
“I was unaware at that last meeting that we were making the policy final when we voted.”
AHS Needle has contacted Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen for an interview to discuss the article and the issues surrounding it. Dr. Johnsen proposed to meet with AHS Needle Editors the week of February 24, 2025. We look forward to finding an amicable solution to this matter.
