Kicking off this 2024-25 school year we have some new faces but this is a face you’ve seen before. Mrs. Kerry Jepsen who was previously a para-educator is now our new office secretary. When Jepsen was a little girl she always wanted to become a teacher but ultimately it didn’t end up working out. She studied at Iowa Western Community College for 2 years and got her Associates of Arts degree in early childhood education. Jepsen has before been a youth counselor, been a cabin mom, and taught Sunday school for many years. When she was asked about her new position she replied “I thought it would be a great way to help more kids in the school.”
Mrs. Jepsen is super excited about our new core values HARK. She believes its values are going to be great for our school as long as everyone such as teachers, staff and the students get on board. “I think it will be a great thing, those four values,” Jepsen added. A quote that Jepsen lives by is “It takes courage to be kind- Maya Angelou” She keeps the message on her desk for all to see and remember. One way to show kindness that she mentioned was seeing a piece of trash on the floor to “pick it up and just throw it away even though no one told you to, that’s just kindness.” Remember to always show honesty, accountability, respect, and kindness.
Everyone likes to watch a movie or tv show once in a while right? Well Jepsen is a huge netflix watcher and sometimes gets lost in all its glory. Jepsen replied “I’m one of those who are like ‘are you still here?’ Yes I’m still watching them.” She loves to read and occasionally enjoys a young adult book because it’s fun and easy to read. You’ll also find her at her kids’ sports events, cheering in the stands. When life starts to get hard she likes to go to her family for support. Jepsen aims to make the office seem like not such a scary place and that you’re not only going to the office because you’re in trouble. “I have a snack basket behind my desk. I want the office to be just not if you’re in trouble, come see us, come say hi, If you need a little snack just stop by, it’s open to everybody.” – Kerry Jepsen
