Miss Hannah Misner has made her place here as a new teacher at AHS. Driven by her love of science, she wants to make a great impact in all of her classes.
“I like working with kids and I love science, so talking about science is a lot of fun for me and I geek out a lot,” said Misner. Having a platform to talk about science is what helped guide her here. Even though she was originally from Griswold, she had already worked in the district and knew some staff and students, so she was comfortable applying for the job.
Misner’s favorite quote to aspire by is, “One day at a time.” Demonstrated by all of her hard work and life changes, she’s shown how much can happen when you take things “one day at a time.” She has a bachelor’s degree in biology, pursued the pre-medical track until her junior year of college, and joined the workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after, Misner went back to school for her master’s degree in secondary education and worked as a substitute teacher in the ACSD for one and a half years. When life gets tough, she goes to her family. She has a brother and two sisters who live in the area. Misner’s brother lives in Elliott, and her sisters live in Griswold. She knows she always has a support system she can lean on.
“I’m excited about hands-on learning,” Misner said. She has many ideas for getting kids into the real world. She loves spending time with her nieces, nephew, and dog Benji outside of school. They all like to play outside, go to parks, go on walks, and have fun together. She hopes to incorporate the fun she has in her own life with the students who will be learning. “I care a lot about kids, and I’m not just here for teaching the content, I’m here to be a support system too.”
