While the postseason continues on, the Atlantic-CAM wrestlers competed in the varsity Regional team duals Tuesday, Feb. 11 in Atlantic. Although the Trojans put up a good fight, they fell to Humboldt 34-29 by one pin in the final round.

The Trojans first faced off against #26 Red Oak, winning 46-29. The boys then went up against #9 Humboldt as they won their match against #25 Van Meter/Earlham.

In a nail-biting match against Humboldt, the score was 29-29 as the two teams approached their final match. Junior Noah Vandevanter wrestled for the Trojans at 220 against Humboldt’s Colton Goodell. The Atlantic-CAM wrestler was then pinned at the time of 5:43, and the team fell shy of advancing onto the State dual team tournament. The final score was 34-29 as the Humboldt wrestlers received a one-point deduction for unsportsmanlike conduct.

However, the Trojans’ season isn’t over just yet, as seven individuals will continue onto 2A Districts in Atlantic on Saturday, February 16.
