Runner-Up Finish for Trojan Wrestling

The boys’ team had a solid showing at two different events.

The Trojan wrestlers traveled to Glenwood on Thursday, Jan. 23 for a triangular meet. Atlantic-CAM picked up two wins on the night, beating Clarinda 63-18 and the home team 45-28. 

Following the triangular, the Trojans participated in the 65th annual John J. Harris tournament at Southwest Valley High School. At the end of day one, Atlantic-CAM was in fourth place with a team score of 67.5 points. Seven boys made it to the semifinals and four were in consolation matches on Saturday morning. 

The Atlantic-CAM squad finished the meet in second place, totaling 164.5 points. The top team was Winterset with 213.5. The Trojan boys edged Creston-OM by two points.

En route to the runner-up finish, the squad had two individual champions. Junior Joe Weaver won the 126-pound weight class and senior Cale Roller was victorious in the 285-pound bracket. Sophomore Ethan Follman finished runner-up at 120 pounds, and sophomore Kadin Stutzman came in second at 152.
