The Trojan swim team was back in action on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Nishna Valley YMCA. The boys’ team hosted South Sioux City and Sioux City North for their first home meet of the season.

Highlights from the meet include three first-place finishes from three separate sophomores. Brayden Atkinson touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle with a 55.86. He said he was “pretty happy” with how he swam at the meet. Drew Engler took the top spot in the 100-yard breastroke event with a 1:08.96. Rounding out the first-place honors was Bryan York, who snagged the 200-yard freestyle event. York swam a 1:58.13.

These wins were the first for the 2019-20 high school swimming season. At the Boone meet the previous weekend, three Trojan relays finished runner-up.

The next home meet for the Atlantic boys will be after winter break, on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
