After high school, Jayden Barnwell is going to boot camp. He has enlisted in the Marines and said the one thing that continued to run through his head after he signed up was, “Did I really just do this?” Joining the Marines is something Barnwell has wanted to do because he is part of a military family. He has four cousins in the Air Force and said his first and only option for a career is going into the military. “You can’t act like an idiot and the childish shenanigans have to stop,” Barnwell said about the military lifestyle.

Barnwell has lived with his grandparents Patricia Barnwell and Lee Clarken for all of his life. “My grandma raised me to be morally in tune by her terms which in turn has made me the person I am,” Barnwell said. A place he really enjoys visiting is Denver Colo, which is also where he was born. When Barnwell was little he always wanted to be an astronomer because he was fascinated by the universe and still is.

One of the achievements Barnwell is most proud of is creating “Silk Team 6 with the one and only Tyler Moen.” Silk Team 6 was the name given by these two to the sprint medley during track. Their handoffs were, as they say, “silky smooth,” and they “still never mess up on handoffs.” The sequence of runners in the sprint medley was Jayden Barnwell, Tyler Moen, Dillon Sonntag and Zade Niklasen. The sprint medley made the qualifying time for State track (2017) but Barnwell “did not participate” even though he could have. He also tried long jump for some time but decided it wasn’t for him. In his free time, Barnwell loves just “chillin’ and killin’.”
