If you can smell a chlorine-filled pool or some freshly cut grass, you can probably find Cody McCreedy. McCreedy has participated in swimming and baseball every year during high school and track his senior year. Swimming has provided McCreedy with some of his greatest memories, one of which was going to the State meet with “the boys.” Although he was an alternate, McCreedy said he enjoyed being able to “miss school and watch swimming” with his friends. Being a part of swim team is something McCreedy is also very proud of because “it was hard.” Baseball was also a big part of McCreedy’s high school years, and he enjoyed playing it and “hanging out in the dugout telling stories.”

McCreedy said his mother has impacted his life the most, whether it be by helping him through swimming, analyzing his baseball swing or just doing the “everyday things moms do.” His family consists of himself, his sister Taylor, and his parents Shelby and Marty McCreedy.

Both of McCreedy’s parents are State Troopers, which influenced him when he was younger, wanting to be a “Police Officer” just like his parents. Although in the past he wanted to be a police officer, McCreedy actually plans to attend Iowa State University and obtain an education degree. He plans to become a history teacher because he enjoys the subject, and would also like to possibly become some type of coach. McCreedy has already been to Iowa State’s campus countless times from going to football games and occasionally some basketball games.

Another extracurricular activity that has played a big role in his life is FFA, providing him with many great opportunities and memories. Some of those include going to the Iowa State Fair multiple times and the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, where McCreedy enjoyed hanging out with his friends such as Cole Jipsen and Tyler Comes.

Whether it be in the pool, on the field or at an FFA convention, McCreedy loves to tell stories and hang out with friends.
