For Jacqueline Fernandez, moving to America has been a long journey. She is originally from Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to America five years ago. Fernandez first moved to Texas and went to Plainview High School before moving to Atlantic. She said the hardest part about moving to America was learning to speak English, which is a success she is most proud of. Moving to a different country was also difficult because she feels that there is more freedom in Mexico, which is her favorite place to go on vacation and she visits often because she still has family living there.

In her free time, Fernandez likes to watch Netflix or play guitar: a new pastime she recently picked up. She also works at Plaza Azteca. After high school, she plans to take a gap year before going to college. During this time, Fernandez would like to visit Argentina because she enjoys traveling. When she was younger, she wanted to be a farmer and have cows and horses on her farm because she has always loved animals.

Fernandez’s friend Wendy is someone who has had an impact on her life because she is “very supportive and a really nice person who has been there through bad times.” Moving between countries was a difficult but exciting adventure and Fernandez is glad she is living where she is now.
