Alexandra Pastrana views family as the most important thing in her life. She said the Pastrana family is a little bit “different” than other families. “Other than religion, we value family a lot so we stay close together,” Pastrana said. When her sister was born, Pastrana’s life was impacted. “It made me realize I have to be a responsible sister and set an example for my siblings,” she said.

Pastrana doesn’t value others’ opinions as much as she values her mom’s, who according to Pastrana is “a strong, pretty woman.” Pastrana said when something bad happens, her mother is always there to comfort them and support them even if she is feeling bad or scared. “Her opinion matters the most to me. For example, everyone can compliment me on something but if my mom compliments me that’s when it matters to me,” Pastrana said.

Pastrana is a cheerleader for the Trojans. Her favorite hobby is singing and she participates in Chorus and Show Choir, spending her free time practicing. During her freshman year, she participated in a choir competition, where she went to DCG and won an award with the Premiere show choir. “It was a very impactful moment in my choir career,” Pastrana said.

Her good grades are something she is also very proud of. Pastrana said that even though she gets a little stressed sometimes, she knows her hard work pays off. She would like to attend Chaminade University of Honolulu to major in criminology. “I’m interested in crime investigations and solving crimes,” Pastrana said. More than anything, she said she wants to make her family proud. Pastrana said her family wants to move to Hawaii to be together with her when she goes off to college.
