“In the Hawkeye 10 show you pretty much get a ‘woah that’s cool’ award,” Hunter Oliver said. He’s proud of all of his art. “I look back at my art and think wow that’s old. Let’s re-do it,” he said. He’s been drawing since he was 4 years old. He was sitting on his porch on a hot day, took his pen and notepad out, and started scribbling on it. “What happened was I looked at it for awhile and thought wow,  it looks like a crown. Then a profile of a face, and lastly, a king or a queen. I was like wow, this is really awesome,” Oliver said. That was on of the reason that inspired him to draw. Another was his dad. “My dad was a big inspiration because he can draw as well. Every day he tells me I’m better than him,” Oliver said. He loves Disney movies and different comic books, which sparked his interest and helped him to draw.

Oliver’s favorite school memory was working on the haunted house idea that he came up with. “It went really well. We came out with $1,212 for the musical program, which was awesome! I love Halloween and dressing up,” Oliver said. It made him very proud. “With this idea, some of my mom and dad’s friends helped with one of their haunted houses in Brooks, Iowa. We went out there and helped. I asked Renay about what it was for. She said that the kids were doing it for school,” Oliver said. He figured that it was his senior year and wanted to do something different. He first brought it up with Ms. Wiederien for prom. She said they’d talk about it, but it was taking too long, so he talked to choir director Ms. Gaesser about it. She brought the idea of using the money for the musical and choreography.

He lives with his mother Rebecca, and his father Chad, his brother Harley, and a foreign exchange student, Ruben. He has 3 dogs; a chocolate lab named Krya, a husky mixed named Mya and a toy Australian shepherd named Sydney.
