After graduating from Atlantic high school, Morgan Anstey plans to attend college and earn her BSN (Bachelors of Science in nursing). Before coming to Atlantic, she lived and went to school in Audubon for at least 3 years before moving here. She lives with her mom, two sisters (Hannah and Paige) and three cats. Her role model was her grandpa, Larry, because he was known for his sense of humor and positive attitude.

When Anstey was younger, she wanted to be a vet, not a nurse. “I like helping people. It makes me feel good, knowing I’m doing something that has an impact on someone or something.” She took an opportunity to get her CNA this past summer through a nursing home she currently works at. “I’m glad I decided to get it. Most colleges require a CNA as a prerequisite for their college. I’m glad I got it out of the way before my senior year.” In 10 years, Anstey hopes to see herself with a BSN and starting her career as a nurse.

She participated in various activities throughout her younger years; softball, soccer, choir and show choir, volunteering, painting and volleyball. Anstey said, “volleyball was definitely my favorite.” Former English teacher Ms. Huggins had the biggest impact on her high school experience. Her favorite books are: The Book Thief, The Fault In Our Stars, and If I Stay. Her favorite memory was participating in the magic show for Jenkin’s advanced chemistry class.

Going on the New York trip the summer after her junior year was the most memorable event during high school. “I really enjoyed it. It was good to get out of Iowa for a while.” Anstey’s senior year is going by fast, and she wants people to remember her by being a happy and cheerful person as she walks across the stage in May 2017.
