On Saturday, Jan. 17, the Atlantic Trojan wrestling squad traveled to Adel for the ADM Tiger Invitational tournament.

The Trojans had five wrestlers make it to the finals, but all were defeated.  The second place finishes included freshman Kole Hansen, sophomores Carter Cox and Zac Stork, junior Tanner Mauk, and senior Reid Nichols. Two Trojans placed third in the tournament and there were four fourth place finishes.  Two wrestlers won matches in the final round, including senior Austin Williamson and junior Keagan Hosfelt. The Atlantic-CAM wrestling team was the second place finishing squad with 183 points, falling to Ames High School who took the team title with 206.5 points.

Senior Marshall McDermott stated, “I think the team wrestled to an expectation, but not to their full potential.  We have tons of room for improvement.”

Sophomore Colby Sorensen added, “We need to win these close matches for bonus points.  That’s the difference between a 1st or 2nd place finish.” T

he Atlantic-CAM wrestling team will travel to Denison on Tuesday, Jan. 20 to face the Monarchs and the Harlan Cyclones.
